Girl Scouts Troop 391 will sponsor an American Red Cross
blood drawing in Sunnyside next Tuesday, March 7.
The 1 to 6 p.m. blood drawing will be held at Sunnyside’s
United Methodist Church.
Fruit commission schedules meeting
YAKIMA – The Washington State Fruit Commission has scheduled
a board of directors meeting for Wednesday, March 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
at the W.L. Hansen Building (105 S. 18
St.) in Yakima.
President B.J. Thurlby will give a report of commission
business, including an update on board member election nominations and a report
on the joint strategic planning session with California. A brief report of 2006
domestic and foreign market promotions and final 2006 budgets will also be
Ukrainian egg design class on tap
The Sunnyside Recreation Department is again offering its
popular Ukrainian egg design class. The eggs are decorated by waxing and dying
This year’s class is scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday,
March 28 and 30, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each evening at the Sunnyside Community
Center. The class is geared for teens and adults.
Marra-Lynn Rodriguez will serve as class instructor.
Sign-ups are underway now at the Recreation office. The cost
is $25 for those who live in Sunnyside, $32 for those who reside outside the
city limits. The fee includes all supplies needed to decorate two eggs.
Young Life alumni to be recognized
Alumni of Lower Valley Young Life will be honored at the
group’s annual fundraising brunch and silent auction, set for this coming
All Young Life alumni are asked to contact Tom or Melissa
Dekker (837-2972) to make arrangements to attend the March 5 social event.
Open to the public, the brunch and silent auction will be
staged at Sunnyside’s Navarro’s Community Center, beginning at 1 p.m. Tickets
are not needed to attend the event.
