GRANDVIEW - Charges still have not been filed against a 56-year-old Selah woman who is charged with hitting a 53-year-old Grandview man with her car while he was walking across Division Street on Feb. 24.
Agustin Gonzalez was struck by a car, driven by the woman whose name police say will not been released until formal charges are filed, that turned south onto Division Street.
Gonzalez was knocked to the ground and sustained injuries to his face. He was taken to Sunnyside Community Hospital and released.
The woman left the scene without fully reporting to police her involvement in the case, according to local law enforcement officers.
Police don't know at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident, but have sent a blood sample to be processed by the state toxicology lab.
Detective James Driscoll said police haven't received results of the blood test yet.
If the woman is found to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol, she'll likely be charged with driving under the influence and hit and run, Driscoll said.
Grandview police sent the sample to be tested last week, and results typically take a week or more to be returned, Driscoll said.
