Baseball, softball sign-ups begin April 3 in G’view

GRANDVIEW – The Grandview Parks and Recreation Department will begin accepting youth baseball and softball sign-ups Monday, April 3.

Only those youngsters who register between April 3 and April 14 will be eligible to play in this year’s parks and rec baseball and softball leagues. Late registrations will not be accepted.

The baseball and softball seasons will begin in May and run through the end of June.

In fairness to each participant, all team rosters will be compiled on a random basis.

Grandview offers several levels of play for youths: t-ball for boys and girls ages 5 and 6, co-ed baseball for youngsters ages 7 and 8, baseball for boys ages 9 through 12, and modified slo-pitch softball for girls ages 9 through 12.

The age of each youngster as of Aug. 31, 2006 will be used to determine in which league they are eligible to compete.

Parents must accompany their child to the parks and rec office when signing up to compete. There is a $15 registration fee.

The Grandview Parks and Recreation Department is also actively recruiting volunteer coaches for this year’s teams. Those interested in serving as a coach are asked to call 882-9219.
