Residents tip off police

Sunnyside residents continue to keep their eyes open for suspicious people in their neighborhoods, with five reporting incidents to police from 8 a.m. yesterday (Tuesday) to the early hours of this morning.

The reports ranged from seeing two men smoking some unknown substance to a man knocking at the door of a residence at 2:25 a.m. this morning. Sunnyside police officers have said this type of vigilance on the part of residents can help prevent and reduce crime.

In addition to these reports, officers investigated one violation of a no-contact order, one case of vandalism, one traffic accident in which an elderly woman was slightly injured, one juvenile problem, two fights, one disorderly conduct, one citizen dispute, three animal problems, one alarm, a case of providing false information to police and a sex offender registration violation.

They also checked on an unsecured premise, served 10 arrest warrants and assisted an agency.
