YAKIMA - Danielle Raschko, who just missed going to State in x-country last fall, came through with a third place finish in the 2,000-meter race at the Eisenhower Jamboree Saturday at Zaepfel Stadium.
Her time was 8:19.81, nine seconds behind the second place runner from LaSalle and a full 19 seconds behind Helen Camden, another LaSalle runner.
"Danielle took two places in her events and high jumped for the first time in competition," said Coach Darrell Lang.
With 4-2 in the high jump, Raschko finished seventh. First place was taken by Robyn Robblee of Ellensburg with a jump of 5-2, which equaled the meet record.
"It was our first meet of the year against some big school competition," said Lang.
"For seven of the Priates, it was their first high school meet, and for two it was their first meet ever," said Lang.
"Corryn Raschko, who is not competing in her specialty in the pole vault due to a shoulder injury, picked up an eighth place finish in the long jump, and Alejandra Molina almost placed as she was ninth in the shot put.
Four of the Pirates were out due to injuries or for academic reasons.
The next meets for Bickleton are this Thursday at Davis High School and on Saturday at the Toppenish Rotary Invite.
