Sunnyside area service groups looking for a guest speaker knowledgeable on the new Part-D Medicare program need look no further than Sunnyside’s own Dr. Jack R. Hale.

The local optometrist has researched the federal program, described by most as extremely complicated, and has presented his findings at several meetings already.

Hale is available to speak at early morning and evening meetings. He can be contacted at his Sunnyside office or through the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce.

Deadline to remove studded tires this Friday

When making weekend plans, the Washington State Department of Transportation is reminding motorists to include having studded tires removed from their vehicles.

The last day to legally use studded tires this season is Friday, March 31. Motorists using studded tires after this Friday could incur a $101 fine.

Cancer survivors sought for annual Relay for Life

GRANDVIEW – Organizers of this year’s American Cancer Society Lower Valley Relay for Life are currently seeking cancer survivors.

Individuals who are living with cancer or have had cancer are being invited to a healthy lunch, which will be served after the initial “Survivor Lap,” traditionally the kick off to the Relay for Life fundraiser.

Each survivor will receive a “Survivor” t-shirt and a medallion. All cancer survivors are invited to take part in the Survivor Lap, and will receive a special parking pass for the day of the event.

Wheelchairs are available to those survivors who need one.
