Health & fitness night a success

Thursday, March 16, Chief Kamiakin and Outlook elementary schools held our fourth biannual P.E., health and fitness night in the Chief Kamiakin gym. The event was a huge success.

There are many people who were responsible for the success of this evening. First, we need to thank Dr. Rick Cole, Cathy Mears, K.C. Mitchell, Julie Schmick and Adelia Goedhart. Without their support, direction and encouragement, we would have been lost.

Thanks also goes to Anne Concienne, the school nurses and Farm Workers Clinic, who gave numerous vaccinations.

We would also like to thank John Hughes, the school security officers, the Sunnyside Police Explorers, Sunnyside police officers, the Sunnyside Fire Department, Ruben Carrera, Stu Gates, Doug Kaplicky, Gary Vegar, Patty Griffith, Gail Boose, Chet Bridger, Mrs. Partch's class, the school board members, Jasmine Salmeron, Sydney Wutzke, Greg Kirk and the Harrison Middle School mariachi band, We Care Sports, WAVA gymnastic team, Radio station KDNA, the Daily Sun News and the many teachers and parents who volunteered their time to supervise, and all of the community resource people who came with information - they all did excellent jobs.

Also, thanks goes to all of the parents and students who were here that evening. We thank you all and we appreciate the time and effort you put in to make a project of this size a success.

You have all shown that the health and fitness of students in the Sunnyside School District is important.
