MOXEE - Grandview No. 1 singles player Kevin Floyd provided the lone bright spot for the Greyhounds Tuesday afternoon as the boys fell 4-1 and the girls fell 5-0 to the Red Devils.
Against Erik Nelson of East Valley, Floyd had no problem, winning easily 6-0, 6-0.
But Floyd's win would be the only highlight of Grandview's afternoon as every other varsity tennis match would go East Valley's way.
Grandview No. 2 singles player Marco Diaz played a tight match against Scott LaBree of East Valley. Diaz came close to winning both sets, but eventually fell in straight sets 7-5, 7-5.
In the No. 1 boys doubles match, Nick Saldana and Robert Madrigal were defeated by East Valley's Coalby Valicoff Jeren Franks, 6-2, 6-4.
In the No. 2 doubles match, Joey Diaz and Rodrigo Fajardo of Grandview played a close first set against Nick Durand and Jake Gefre that went to a tiebreaker. The Grandview pair fell in the tiebreaker and then dropped the second set 6-4 to lose 7-6, 6-4.
The No. 3 boys doubles match was more of the same for Grandview, as Zach Poteet and Paulino Fajardo fell to Kyle Perotti and Cam Brulotte of East Valley, 6-2, 6-0.
On the girls side, it was much of the same for the 'Hounds. Grandview couldn't manage a single victory over East Valley.
The No. 2 doubles team came the closest as Sara Amaro and Kyla Leyendekker managed a first set victory 7-5 before falling in the final two sets 6-4, 6-2.
