MABTON - The Mabton Community Days planning committee met last night to go over current plans for the event.
Mabton Community Days will be held Saturday, June 10.
The day will start off with a fireman's breakfast at 6 a.m. in the fire station. The cost for adults is $5 and $4 for children 12 and under. All proceeds raised from the breakfast will go for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for needy families.
A parade will begin at 11 a.m. The grand marshals of the parade will be Bill and Denise Roettger. The parade will begin and end at the Blue Sky Market, across from City Hall.
"A flier will be sent out to everyone in Mabton detailing the parade route," said Connie Beeman, one of the organizers of Mabton Community Days.
After the parade there will be vendors set up in Feezell Park selling food and other items. There will also be music and pony rides for the kids.
"Anyone wanting to set up a booth in the park can contact the Mabton Lions Club," said Beeman. The contact person at the Lions Club is Lupe Tellez and she can be reached at 307-5839.
"We're also looking for volunteers to help with the clean-up," Beeman added. She said students in grades 9-12 can earn up to six hours of community service credits. Space is limited and the first 20 students will be taken. For those interested, they can contact Beeman at 391-5879 or Melodie Lopez at 391-6034.
On Friday, June 9, the Miss Mabton Pageant will be held at Artz-Fox Elementary School at 7 p.m. The new court will be in the parade the next day and will kick off the festivities at Feezell Park.
