Mabton Council looking to fill seat

MABTON - The Mabton City Council is looking for someone to fill the council position #4 seat.

City Administrator Ildia Jackson announced Thursday that John Reynolds has stepped down from the council due to family commitments that are interfering with council meetings.

The applicant must be at least 18 years of age, have lived in the city limits of Mabton for one year and be a registered voter.

Those interested in the seat must drop off an application at the Mabton City Hall no later than 5 p.m. on May 18. Applications are available at city hall.

The applicants will then be requested to attend the May 23 council meeting to explain why they want to serve on the council. The council will then go into executive session to discuss the applicants. When the council comes out of executive session, they will announce their decision.

Reynolds has been on the council since January 1996. He has been re-elected twice since then. His term expires in December 2007.
