Mabel Elizabeth Hendricks, 72, of Sunnyside passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at her home.

Mabel was born Aug. 31, 1933 in McKenzie, N.D., the daughter of William L. and Myrtle A. (Nash) Wilton. She received her education in N.D. and WA. On Dec. 2, 1950 she married Leland Hendricks in Reno, Nev. Following their marriage, they made their home in Sunnyside. Mabel owned and operated Mabel’s Ideal Cleaners in Sunnyside and Grandview.

She was a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Sunnyside, Order of Eastern Star and Daughter of the Nile. She enjoyed animals, gardening, sewing and caring for people.

She is survived by one stepdaughter, Anna Marie Johnson (Jim), of Yakima; three grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one brother, Franklin L. Wilton of Bellevue; and two sisters, Lennice A. Dalrymple and Karen Shear (Vernon), both of Renton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leland Hendricks, in 1992; one step-son; one brother, William Wilton; and one nephew, George D. Dalrymple.

Memorial funeral services will be held Saturday, May 13, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Sunnyside. Those wishing to honor her memory may contribute to the American Cancer Society or Diabetic Association. Smith Funeral Home Sunnyside is in charge of arrangements.
