St. Joseph's kicks off May Fest

The 21st annual May Fest celebration will be held at St. Joseph's parish in Sunnyside May 19-21.

Father Ricardo Billareal noted that May Fest originated as a fundraiser for St. Joseph's School. In the years since then, proceeds from the festival have been designated for church programs, such as the youth ministry and food bank.

May Fest will be open at the church from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 19; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 20; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 21.

"We'll have the carnival in the school yard, food and game booths and various entertainment throughout the weekend," Billareal said. Discounted all-you-can-ride tickets for the carnival are available for $18 until May 17 at the church office at 907 S. Sixth Street. The all-you-can-ride tickets increase to $25 on May 18, said Billareal.

A dance and music will be featured at May Fest, as well as free games for the kids such as sack races.
