WAPATO - Eight Bickleton Pirates pushed their way through District competition in Wapato last Friday to earn berths at Regionals at Central Washington University on Friday, May 19.
Pirate Eric Hess was the District champion in the discus, throwing 120-1 to advance to Regionals. He also put the shot 40-10 for fifth place.
Junior Hernandez, an eighth grader running with the Pirates, raced through the 3,200m in 10:56.8 to take second place.
Freshman Patrick Maeder pole vaulted to third place for the Pirates with a height of 8-6.
Other Pirates advancing to Regionals are Tyler Jensen and Cody Loomis, who joined Maeder and Hernandez in the 4x400m relay, taking fourth with a personal best of 4:05.3.
Danielle Raschko, who just missed going to State in cross country in the fall of 2004, will take her place at Regionals for another try, based on the third place finish she had in the 3,200 meet race at District. She ran it in a personal best time of 13:44.9.
Doni Franklin's fourth place finish in the 400 m advanced her to Regionals. She ran it in 1:20.3.
The last Lady Pirate to find a place at Regionals was Tricia McBride, who pole vaulted five feet for a third place finish.
