Grandview man charged with knife assaults in Sunnyside

Humberto A. Flores, 26, of Grandview was arrested by Sunnyside police officers this past Friday at El Valle Restaurant in Sunnyside after a knife assault was reported there at 10:30 p.m.

"When officers arrived at the scene, they located one victim who had been cut on the arm with a knife," Detective. Sgt. Jeff Cunningham reported. "They also located witnesses and the suspect, Humberto Flores, and he was taken into custody."

A short time later, two other victims arrived at the emergency room of Sunnyside Community Hospital, one with a cut on the arm and the other with a facial cut, according to Cunningham, who added that it was determined that all three had been assaulted, allegedly by Flores.

"Flores is being charged with assault in the first degree," Cunningham noted.

Flores was held in the Sunnyside jail, pending transfer to the Yakima County Jail this morning for arraignment.
