James Thomas Hancock, 70, of Yakima passed away Friday, May 19, 2006, at his home.
James was born March 2, 1936 in Poteau, Okla. to Thomas and Pearl Esther (Honea) Hancock. Jim graduated from Grandview High School in 1954 going on to serve as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army until 1957.
Jim was a three-sport athlete in high school and was obsessed with sports his entire life. Jim will be remembered by all who knew him for his full, vivid life.
Jim is survived by three daughters, Rhonda and Dale Gottschalk, Belinda and Ray Webster and Joanna Biegel and Jim Bacon, all of Yakima; three sons, Randy Kalvi of Oregon, James and Jennifer Hancock of Healy, Ark. and Ted and Lisa Hancock of Ellensburg; six brothers, Al, Theron, Loran, Lowell, Ed and Eldon; four sisters, Mary, Rita, Lita and Teresa; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Kevin Hancock.
The family invites all friends to a memorial service Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at 3:00, at the Yakima VFW. Donations may be made to VFW Ladies Auxiliary if desired. Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima is in charge of arrangements. Online guest book is at valleyhillsfh.com
