Alleged kidnappers still awaiting trials

Accused kidnappers, Heriberto Martinez and Pedro Ochoa Mendoza of Sunnyside, are still awaiting trial on charges stemming from a kidnapping and attempted kidnapping in Yakima in October 2005.

Both were scheduled to go to trial Nov. 6 in Yakima County Superior Court although they are being tried separately, but their court dates have been postponed. Martinez's trial has been re-set to Feb. 20, 2007. Ochoa-Mendoza's new trial date is Dec. 11, 2006.

Martinez is charged with first degree kidnapping, first degree robbery with a deadly weapon and attempted first degree kidnapping.

Mendoza is charged with attempted first degree kidnapping, indecent liberties and first degree robbery with a deadly weapon.
