Money firefighters collected will stay here to help kids

The members of Sunnyside Professional Firefighters Local 3542 held our annual Fill the Boot drive to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association Friday, Aug. 25. We had another successful year and were able to raise $2,730.

All of that money will stay in the area and help children affected by muscular dystrophy. It will provide them with a week-long stay at camp, medical supplies and other necessities that make their lives a little easier and a whole lot happier.

We would like to thank the following businesses for their continued support and donations that help make Fill the Boot possible: Safeway, Domino's Pizza, Sunnyside Beauty Academy, Yakima County Fire District #5 and Yakima Federal Savings.

The following individuals provided us with much needed support and generosity: Bob Stockwell, Aaron Markham, Ed Radder, Carol Stone, Gabrielle Filicetti, Samantha Wright, Patty Roe, Cassidy Roe, Megan Roe, Tony Castillo, Chad Stremler, Angela De La Barrer, Mathew Santoy, Jackie Roberts, Emma Newhouse, Kelly Newhouse, Julie Long, Ashley Haak, Devi Knott, Katie Long and the MDA staff.

The biggest thank you belongs to the citizens of Sunnyside who once again gave so generously. Without our amazing community members, Fill the Boot would not be possible.

s/s Josh Roe, president, Sunnyside Professional Firefighters Local 3542
