Millie A. Barnes, 95, of Grandview died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, at Garden Village Nursing Home in Yakima.
She was born Sept. 6, 1911 in Violet Hill, Ark. to Jackson and Mittie (Rogers) Cooper. She received her education in Arkansas. In 1928 she married Claude C. Barnes in Union, Ark. Together they farmed in Arkansas until 1958, when they, with their family, came west, settling in Grandview.
She is survived by her children, W.A. Barnes (Georgie), and Ralph Barnes (Linda), all of Grandview, Rilla Mathis of Prosser, Shirley Burson of Sunnyside, and Jean Roberts (John) of Selah; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude; two grandchildren; five sisters; four brothers; and one son-in-law. Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, from 1 to 3 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 15, 2006, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Grandview, with burial to follow at Grandview Cemetery. Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
