Rhonda Sue Desmarais, 38, of Spokane and a former Mabton resident, passed away unexpectedly at her home, Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006.
Rhonda was born Aug. 23, 1968 in Sunnyside, the daughter of Paul Michael and Virginia Elizabeth (Feezell) Desmarais. Rhonda received her education in Mabton and graduated in the top of her High School Class of 1987. She attended Yakima Valley Community College in Yakima, for a short-time before entering the U.S. Air Force, serving in Germany. Following her military duty, Rhonda worked for eight years in civilian communication for the U.S. Government at Scott Air Force Base in St. Louis, Mo. She also enjoyed her part-time job at The Hitching Post, where she met and enjoyed many great friends. Since 2003, Rhonda made her home in Spokane. She worked for Janus Research Inc. at Fairchild Air Force Base.
She was a very outgoing woman whose focus was on helping others inside and outside of work. She enjoyed her family, friends and rock concerts, was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Rams, and she loved traveling the world.
Rhonda is survived by her parents, Paul Michael and Virginia Desmarais of Mabton; four brothers, Michael Desmarais and wife, Monica, of Kellogg, Idaho, Henry Desmarais, Raymond Desmarais, and Joshua Desmarais, all of Seattle. She also had three nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Virgil and Inez Feezell and Paul and Marie Desmarais.
Viewing and visitation will be held Monday, Sept. 18, 2006, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, from 8:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside.
