John Farmer, 54, of Grandview died Friday, Sept. 22, 2006 at his home.
He was born Feb. 11, 1952 to Donald and Mary (Brady) Farmer in Massachusetts. He received his education in Cleveland, Ohio and furthered his education at Kent State. John served in the United States Navy. On Nov. 12, 1976 he married Marcie Gentzler in Seattle.
Following his military service John attended and graduated from Washington State University, later receiving his Master's Degree in horticulture. In 1990 he came to Prosser to work as Benton County Noxious Weed Control Board Director. In 1997 he became vineyard manager for Alderridge Vineyard in Alderdale.
He is survived by his two daughters, Liz Farmer of Seattle and Tessa Farmer and husband, Mohamed Hemeda, of Austin, Texas; his father, Donald Farmer and wife, Judy, of Cape Cod, Mass.; two sisters, Beth Levitz and husband, Richard, and Jan Zivitski; three brothers, Doug Farmer and wife, Joni, Mike Farmer and wife, Nancy, and Tom Farmer and wife, Kim. He is also survived by his fiancée Sandi Buchmann and her daughters, Tara and Megan, and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Farmer in October 2004.
A memorial service was scheduled for Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at 2 p.m. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
