ROYAL CITY - Junior Hernandez was missing from Bickleton's cross-country meet with four other high schools in Royal City on Tuesday.
Bickleton Coach Tom Lang said Hernandez was sick. He had been running through it but it finally caught up with him, he said.
First place for the boys went to Royal High School's Rigoberto Jiminez. He set a course record with a time of 15:39.
The first Pirate to finish was Patrick Maeder with a time of 22:40. He was followed by Orion Yoesle in 26th place. He finished in 23:05. James Rasmussen was the next Pirate after Yoesle, finishing 31st with a time of 25:46. Jared Spalding came in 33rd for the Pirates with a time of 29:21.
For the girls, Zillah's Bayli Ziegler took first place with a time of 21:54. Bickleton's Danielle Raschko finished in seventh with a time of 23:56.
Lang said Raschko had a set back after running great races the last two times out. He said she will shake this one off and be ready for the next meet in Pasco.
The Pirates will travel to Pasco Saturday, Sept. 30, for The Big Cross event.
