A call received from California at 10:28 a.m. yesterday alerted Sunnyside police officers that a 26-year-old woman was being held against her will at a residence in the 600 block of San Clemente Avenue.
Ten minutes later, Officer Jaime Prieto arrived at the address to make a welfare check, and found that the tipster, a friend of the woman being held, was correct in her assumption.
Officers detained Raymond McManus, 23. McManus will face a charge in Sunnyside Municipal Court of threats to do harm, and a charge of unlawful imprisonment has also been requested by Sunnyside police. That charge will likely be relayed to a higher court in Yakima.
In other investigations yesterday, Sunnyside police officers dealt with one case of vandalism, three traffic problems, four suspicious people, one 911 hang-up call, a report of lost property, a juvenile problem, a report of harassment, two disorderly conducts and three animal problems.
They also served one arrest warrant, gave two assists to agencies and three to residents, provided an extra patrol and received two informational calls.
