Sharron Fay Waymire, 60, of Granger passed away Sunday, April 1, 2007, at her home surrounded by her loving family, after a seven-and-half-year battle with cancer.

She was born Nov. 26, 1946, to Everett Dale and Wilma Ruth (Jarnagin) Skaggs in La Grande, Ore. She graduated from Gem State Academy in 1965 and later graduated from Walla Walla College with her fifth-year teaching certificate in 1971. On Nov. 2, 1975 she married Larry David Waymire at the Granger Seventh-day Adventist Church and they together made their home in Granger. Sharron worked as a full time schoolteacher until she had a family; she then substituted while her children were in school. In addition to being a homemaker, she also was her husband’s bookkeeper for the family business, Waymire Mechanical. Sharron enjoyed playing the piano, gardening and working in her yard, going to the mountains and the ocean, visiting lighthouses, reading and writing. She cherished time spent with her family. Sharron was an active member of the Granger Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was the church pianist for many years and was very involved in many church activities.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Waymire of Granger; one daughter, Angela Waymire of Granger; two sons, Andrew Waymire of Granger and Michael Waymire of Granger. She is also survived by two brothers, Don Skaggs and wife, Charlotte, of La Grande, Ore. and Ken Skaggs and wife, Margaret of Delta, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Arlie Skaggs.

Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, April 5, 2007, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday, April 6, 2007, at 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 6, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, with burial to follow at the Zillah Cemetery, Zillah.

Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
