Police still investigating two separate shooting incidents

The Sunnyside Police Department is investigating two separate shooting incidents from earlier this week.

The first incident occurred in the 600 block of South 13th Street this past Monday morning, just minutes past midnight.

According to Detective Sergeant Jeff Cunningham, a call reporting shots fired was initially received by the police department. The first police officer on scene discovered evidence of a home having been shot and located four victims, ages 16 to 24, who were uninjured.

Officers were unable to locate the suspects, who were seen running from the scene, eastbound on East Grant Avenue.

Cunningham said evidence was recoved at the scene and it is unknown at this point in the investigation as to whether the incident is gang related.

A second shooting incident occurred last night (Tuesday) just before 8 p.m. in the 1700 block of Cascade Way.

A 14-year-old male juvenile was found to have been shot in the back. He was taken to Sunnyside Community Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Police are still investigating the incident, according to Cunningham.

He said five Sunnyside Police Department personnel were on scene this morning and some evidence of shots hitting a nearby residence has been found.

The Sunnyside Police Department will provide more information on the incident as it becomes available.
