Carlos “Charlie” D.
Rodriguez, 86, of Sunnyside went to be with his heavenly Father on Sunday,
April 8, 2007, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Sept. 17, 1920,
in Brownsville, Texas to Carlos and Julia (Diases) Rodriguez. He spent his
early years and received his education in Brownsville.
On June 26, 1939, he married
Fidela M. Marichalar in Carmeram County, Texas. They together made their home
in Brownsville until 1950 when they moved to Sunnyside.
Carlos enjoyed fishing and
playing cards with his sons. He especially enjoyed family gatherings and
cherished time spent with his grandchildren.
Carlos was a member of St.
Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside.
He is survived by five
daughters, Irene Fraser of Sunnyside, Julia Dominguez and husband, Mike, of
Mabton, Rosemary Esqueda and husband, Raul, of Everett, Elizabeth Rodriguez of
Sunnyside, and Lori Guizar and husband, Ismael, of Sunnyside; four sons, Carlos
Rodriguez Jr. and wife, Camelina, of Mabton, Joe G. Rodriguez and wife, Donna,
of Outlook, David Rodriguez of Grandview, and Jesse Rodriguez and wife, Laurie,
of Granger; 29 grandchildren, 43 great- grandchildren and six
great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Agustine
Rodriguez and wife, Lupe, of California, Maria Flores of Walla Walla, and
Rebecca Amador of Sunnyside.
He was preceded in death by
his parents; his wife, Fidela M. Rodriguez, two daughters, Juanita Rodriguez in
1954 and Ninfa Morales in 1982; two brothers, Severo Rodriguez and Ramon
Rodriguez; and one sister, Amelia Almada.
Viewing and visitation will
be held Wednesday, April 11, 2007, from 2 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited
at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be
held Thursday, April 12, 2007, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in
Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Sunnyside Cemetery. Smith Funeral Home is
in charge of arrangements.
