'Victory' grapplers medal at nationals

RENO, NEV. - Three members of the Lower Yakima Valley-based Victory Wrestling Club returned home from Reno, Nev. last weekend with placing medals from a national competition.

The World of Wrestling Cliff Keen Reno Worlds tournament drew approximately 6,000 athletes representing 36 states.

The Victory Wrestling Club's top finisher was Sunnyside High School's Isaac Romero. He notched a runner-up finish in the 112-lb. weight class for 18&U grapplers.

Teammates Elias Romero and Cameron Schlenker also medaled at the national tourney, both finishing fourth in their respective weight classes. Romero is an 8&U, 55-lb. weight class competitor; and Schlenker wrestles at heavyweight in the 10&U age division.

The Victory Wrestling Club was represented at the national competition by 19 team members. The squad is coached by Rene Torres.
