I want to formally thank those who supported the Chamber's first Business Block Party which took place on East Lincoln Avenue on Friday, July 27.
First and foremost, I want to thank the Lincoln Avenue Strip Plaza businesses in front of Wal-mart for their cooperation, great deals and feedback...Bernina Sewing and Vacuum's, J.R. and Cameron; Valerie from Cold Cow Creamery, Colortyme, El Charrito, Teriyaki Express, Fantastic Sam's, and last but not least my Totally Cellular team who took turns standing the heat in the outside booth with me. I'm glad I'm not the only one that got an uneven tan! I also can't forget to thank Shannon Gordon who helped in getting us to have a tent and goodies to give away.
I would although, especially like to acknowledge and thank Les Schwab and Jem's (special thanks to Peggy Beeler who made their participation possible)who left their business locations to set up booths alongside and endured the scorching sun with me. Araceli, I haven't forgotten. You'll see me soon, I need my hair done remember? Don't you worry, I'll buy plenty of smoothies while I'm there (it was delicious by the way).
Of course I've left the best for last. Pam, Jesse, I appreciated your full support and the ads you made possible in the paper. What with the feedback and ideas we've received and the ones we've yet to receive, I'm sure the next potential block party will be twice as big.
For all those who visited the stores that extremely hot day, I thank you. I really do. We need to show our support to all our businesses in Sunnyside. We need to keep our money here, This IS a great place to live, we need to let it be known that it's also a great place to have a business, no matter where the business location is in town.
You have a gold mine of great services right in your own community, take advantage, keep them here.
