Larson Gallery releases new calendar of exhibits

YAKIMA - The Larson Gallery Guild of Yakima, excited about its 52nd anniversary, has announced the 2007-08 calendar of exhibits and events.

The 2007-08 season begins Sept. 16 with a unique exhibition titled "City Views." This show will feature "views" of urban environments, including Yakima's city center through the eyes of Seattle painters Julia Ricketts and Amanda Coleman, and Seattle illustrator and architect Anita Lehmann. Each of the three artists has created an artwork inspired by one of Yakima's streets, buildings or other urban landmark.

Works specifically designed for this exhibition will be offered by silent auction to the highest bidder at the end of the show.

On Oct. 7, the Larson Gallery Guild will host the annual open house and membership party.

On Nov. 3, the public is invited to the opening of the region's largest juried competition, the "Central Washington Artists Exhibition."

During the 2007-08 season the public can also view a traveling exhibit from the Chicago Printmaking Collaborative, photographs from a YVCC instructor's travels to Afghanistan and an installation art piece designed specifically for the Larson Gallery.

A major goal of the Larson Gallery for the 2007-08 season is to focus more on community involvement, and continue with in-depth educational and outreach programs.
