William Vaughn Jamison Jr., 81, of Pendleton, Ore. passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, at St. Anthony Hospital, in Pendleton.
He was born Sept. 7, 1925, in Bloomfield, Ind. to William and Georgia Thomason Jamison.
Bill moved to the Yakima Valley, when he was eight years old. He graduated from Prosser High School. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific.
Bill married E. Geraldine Sandvig in 1947. They had two sons, William Jamison III and Robert M. Jamison.
He owned and operated a grocery store in Ukiah, Ore. for 12 years.
In 1967, he married Peggy Wyatt Wilson.
He worked for State Farm Insurance. Bill operated the insurance agency in Hermiston from 1974 until he retired in 1993. They later moved to Pendleton.
His hobbies included fishing, card playing, dancing and walking.
Bill is survived by his wife, Peggy of Pendleton; sons, Bill Jamison III of Pendleton and Bob Jamison of Kennewick; a stepdaughter, Jane Shelley of Burns, Ore.; two sisters, Georgianna Rutz of Kennewick and Henrietta Erickson of Prosser; one brother, Frank Jamison of Vancouver; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, at 1 p.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 485 W. Locust Avenue, Hermiston, Ore.
Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
Disposition was by cremation. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.
