The Sunnyside School Board last night approved a $60 million general fund budget for Sunnyside schools for the 2007-08 school year.
The budget represents just over a $2 million increase over the previous school year.
Business Manager Angela Watts said the budget figures for the new school year take into account an enrollment decline of about 100 students.
The general fund also includes increased monies from the state for special education programs, as well as extra funds for math and science education. Watts said Sunnyside schools also received more I-728 funds designated for smaller class sizes.
The district's ASB budget is similar to last year's, totaling just over $537,000. Last year's ASB budget was at just over $541,000.
The capital budget increases slightly this year, from $19.1 million last school year to $22.5 million in 2007-08.
Watts said anticipated capital expenditures in 2007-08 include $8 million for the new Sun Valley Elementary School, $11 million for a remodel of Washington Elementary School and $2.5 million for a new bus garage.
The district's transportation budget is set for $700,000 during 2007-08, down from $730,000 in 2006-07.
