Idle speculation shouldn't be in print

A sports fan I am not. I do not know Brett Favre. I know nothing about his "200-plus consecutive starts and an arm that throws forever," as mentioned by reporter John Fannin in the "Pounding the Rock" column in the Dec. 18 issue of the Daily Sun News.

But, boy, do I take issue with Fannin's speculation that this sports figure is on steroids. The gym might be - I don't know anything about that either - but who elected John Fannin as judge? It may be his right to "wonder" about Favre, but, to me, it sounds like someone casting the first stone.

Give us a break, Mr. Fannin, and give up idle speculation. That's how rumors start!
