Rosendo Obregon Esparza, 66, beloved husband and father passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, in the presence of his family in Prosser.
Rosendo was born Jan. 17, 1941 in Waco, Texas, the son of Rosendo Esparza and Donaciana Obregon Esparza.
On Oct. 12, 1963 he married Herminia Realme Felan in Sunnyside, where they began their life together. Rosendo received his Associate of Arts degree from Columbia Basin College in Pasco. His working career included Burlington-Northern Railroad, Washington State Migrant Council and State of Washington Employment Security Department.
He cherished time spent with family, and grandchildren.
Rosendo enjoyed public speaking and was a member of Toast Masters.
He dedicated a great deal of his time to community service and in his early years to the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside.
On Thanksgiving Day, he became ill, bringing his family together in the presence of God. He left to be with the Lord on Christmas Day.
He is survived by his wife, Herminia Esparza of Sunnyside; his children, Rosendo Esparza and wife, Daline, of Prosser, Ruby Ann Esparza Getsinger and husband, Wayne, of Grandview, Rocky Michael Esparza of Prosser, and Tammy Lynn Esparza Cissell and husband, Brian, of Bremerton; his 14 grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren; his siblings, Cipriano Esparza, Felipa Esparza Caballero, Consuelo Esparza Montelongo, Donaciana Esparza Munoz and Juanita Esparza Loera.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosendo and Donaciana Esparza; his brother, Rosendo Esparza II; his sisters, Rosa Maria Esparza Villarreal, Marta Martinez Caballero, and Susana Esparza Munoz.
Viewing and visitation will be held today, Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, from 3 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
