PROSSER - In a close contest over the Prosser Mustang 'C' squad last night, the Bickleton Pirates varsity team garnered a five-point victory, 52-47.
The Mustangs pressed the Pirates in the second quarter, holding Bickleton to a four-point lead going into the half.
"We were ahead by 10 points in the third quarter but they (Prosser) came back and did fairly good in the fourth quarter," said Coach Ben McBride. "It was a good, competitive game."
Bickleton's Tyler Collins was the high-scorer for the Pirates with 14 points. Teammate Tyler Jensen scored 13 points for Bickleton and was the high-rebounder with nine boards. Pirate Eric Hess finished out the night with eight boards and four blocked shots.
Prosser's Beau Hazzard had a team-high 20 points for the Mustangs, 13 of which were scored in the second quarter. "He just lit it up," said McBride.
The victory over the Mustangs boosts the Pirates' overall record to 6-10.
The Pirates are readying for their last league game against Trout Lake this Saturday and McBride's expecting a close contest. "We lost by three points last time we played them. We should be able to have a good competitive game with them, too."
