Coach Ben McBride attributed Saturday's loss to "simple mistakes."
McBride said the Pirates gave up too many free throws, with Trout Lake's Tim Deardon connecting on 14-of-21 free throw attempts.
McBride said that over the course of the season the Pirates have worked to fix their offensive output. "But you've just got to be able to connect on these easy shots," he added.
Pirate Eric Hess had a double-double for the night, with 14 points and 20 boards. Teammate Tyler Collins had a double-double for the night, as well, scoring 13 points and collecting 16 rebounds. Cody Loomis was the high scorer for Bickleton, with 15 points. He also had two assists. Teammate Tyler Jensen had three steals.
The Pirates move on to sub-district play tomorrow (Tuesday) night against Klickitat. When the Pirates faced off against the Vandals late last month, Bickleton's then high scorer had a mere six points for the night, while Klickitat's Herschel Sanchey had 22. In the upcoming game, says McBride, "We've just got to be able to control Sanchey."
Bickleton finished the regular season 2-9 in league play and 6-11 overall.
Bickleton 9 12 11 20 52
Trout Lake 13 15 12 21 61
Bickleton scorers: Cody Loomis 15, Eric Hess 14, Tyler Collins 13, Tyler Jensen 7, Andrew Venema 3.
