Bickleton girls fall late to Trout Lake

TROUT LAKE - A third quarter breakdown in defense cost the Lady Pirates the game against Trout Lake this past Saturday, 53-40.

According to Coach Tom Whitmore, the Lady Pirates played both man-to-man and zone defense, but a breakdown in zone defense in that third quarter gave Trout Lake the lead. Trout Lake scored 16 points in the third, while Bickleton scored only three.

"There's our 13 points right there (that Bickleton lost by)," said Whitmore.

"When we run our defense, we just need to make sure we're running it right," he said.

Katelynn Clinton finished the game with a double-double, scoring 13 points for the Pirates and garnering 16 boards. She also had five blocked shots.

Teammates Jeannette Jarvis had seven rebounds, while Phylicia Pearson had five boards and five assists. Chelsey Mercer had four steals and three assists. Morgan McBride had three steals.

The Lady Pirates will face Trout Lake tomorrow (Tuesday) night in sub-district play hosted by Klickitat. They finished the regular season 2-9 in league play and 5-10 overall.
