State-supported elders need funding

I truly appreciate all the time and effort Lynda Jo Gross put into her article, “Voices for the elderly lobby in

Olympia

for more funding.” Lynda Jo is sensitive to the needs of our elders and the frustration of our care partners, who would like to spend more quality time with our elders.

An important addition to the article would be that Maria Garibaldo and other care partners come to Hillcrest Manor in the evenings and on their days off with their children and grandchildren to provide that “visiting time” that the elders are asking for. That generous spirit of caring is what has made the Manor statistically the best long term care facility in

Washington

state.

I encourage the

Lower

Valley

community to write to Gov. Gregoire requesting just funding to care for all the state-supported elders in nursing homes in

Washington

state

. My care partners and I went to

Olympia

in January to plead for all our senior citizens. Everyone has someone or will have someone in a skilled facility someday.

Thank you.
