LAURA JONES

PAID OBITUARY

Laura Jones, 78, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at her home in Grandview.

She was born Sept. 6, 1928 in New Leipzig, N.D. to Jacob and Fredricka Lang. She moved to Washington in 1935, where she attended school at Euclid, Denny Blaine and Waneta. She graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1946.

On Jan. 18, 1947, Laura married Gordon Jones.

They established a farm in Grandview that became the center of their growing family for 60 years. They were blessed with a lifetime of memories in the only home they ever lived in.

Laura was a member of the First Christian Church, and, later, the Sunnyside Grace Brethren Church, where she was active in teaching Bible school, Sunday school, and cooking in the kitchen. As a volunteer leader, Laura participated in 4-H events with her children. She was also a member of the Grandview Garden Club.

She loved to cook and entertain guests.

She enjoyed working in her garden, decorating for the holidays and entertaining her grandchildren. She was always so proud to share the Lord and her German heritage with those around her.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents. Also, by her siblings, Lydia Zimmerman, Herb Lang, Elsie Meyers, Fred Lang, Ida Lang, Oscar Lang, Johnny Lang, Dora Krohn and two infant brothers.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon; one brother, Leroy Lang; and sister, Edna Mottner. She is also survived by her children, Danny Jones of Yakima, Marlene and Gary Hughes of Prosser, Irene and Steve Larson of Yakima, Colleen and Greg Howell of Goldendale, Laureen Morgan of Yakima, Rodney and Rebekah Jones of Grandview; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be held Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, between 3 and 7 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home, 345 N. 11th St., Sunnyside. On Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, we invite you to attend graveside services at 10 a.m. at the Prosser Cemetery, followed by a service to celebrate her life at 11 a.m. at the Sunnyside Grace Brethren Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Sunnyside GBC Camp Clear Lake Scholarship Fund or the Sunnyside Christian School.

Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside is in charge of arrangements.
