Jimenez SCAC all-league selection

Mabton High School sophomore Ana Jimenez has been named to the 2006-07 SCAC girls basketball all-league first team.

A 5'6" guard, Jimenez was the league's leading scorer this season. She averaged 21 points per game. Jimenez also averaged six rebounds a game for the Lady Vikings.

"She did a great all-around job all year for us," said Mabton Coach Mike Roettger.

Jimenez finished runner-up in the MVP voting, behind Naches Valley senior Monique Wickenhagen. The Mabton sophomore was one of only two underclassmen named to the six-girl SCAC all-league first team.

Roettger said Jimenez has also been selected to play in the Media Classic All-Star game, which pits prep hoopsters from the Yakima Valley against their counterparts from the Tri-Cities. That game, said Roettger, is slated for Saturday, March 17.
