Sukiyaki dinner set for March 4

WAPATO - The 46th annual sukiyaki dinner will be held Sunday, March 4, at the Buddhist Hall in Wapato, located at 212 W. Second St.

More than 1,200 people are expected to attend the cultural event, in which traditional Japanese food will be served by members of the Yakima Buddhist Temple.

Guests from as far away as Seattle, Spokane and eastern Oregon are expected for the event, which will focus on children's "anime", the Japanese animated cartoons that are becoming popular in comic books and cartoons. A presentation of "anime" will be provided during the dinner in the form of costumes, pictures, art and video.

Tickets for the sukiyaki dinner are available for $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and younger.
