RUTHELEENE LOUISE ANDERSON

Rutheleene Louise Anderson, 71, of Sunnyside went to be in the arms of her Heavenly Father on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, from her home.

She was born on June 29, 1935, in Larned, Kansas, the daughter of Claude Eugene and Ruth Ellen (Sidenstricker) Gordon. At the age of 17, she moved to Prosser and graduated with the High School class of 1954. She worked and put herself through charm and beauty school in Yakima. Rutheleene worked for Sylvias Beauty Shop and Bobbie's Beauty Shop, both in Prosser.

On Dec. 3, 1956, she married Archie Jo Anderson in Prosser. In 1966, the Andersons built a home in Sunnyside. Her husband, Joe, passed away in 1970. Rutheleene continued to run a beauty shop from her home in Sunnyside. She later was involved in real estate, insurance and worked in the office at Grandview Bleyhl Farm Service.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sunnyside and Prosser, and attended the Sunnyside Grace Brethren Church. She was also a member of the Bell Canto Choir and Cascade Hiking Club, both of Yakima. She enjoyed her grandchildren, home, yard, garden, hiking and cross-country skiing.

She is survived by four children, Josh Anderson (Sandy) of Yakima, Joleene Anderson of Winter Haven, Fla., Julia Anderson Kuiken (Timothy) of Redmond and Jamie Joe Anderson (Traci) of Zillah; and six grandchildren, Krystine, Nathan, Isaac, Annaka, Selah, and Cydni Jo. She is also survived by her mother, Ruth Ellen Gordon of Zillah; and her siblings, Claudia Kandel of New Mexico, Steve Gordon of Tri-Cities, Ron Gordon of Ford, Jack Gordon of Washington State, and June House, Kent Gordon, and Carol Boutain, all of Zillah, and Claude Gordon Jr. of Moxee.

Memorial funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Sunnyside. Those wishing to honor Rutheleene's memory may contribute to First Baptist Church, Lower Valley Hospice or love gifts for the family. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
