Sunday morning police raced to the 500 block of McClain Drive in Sunnyside, where 23-year-old Rafael Vasquez-Guzman is thought to have broken into a residence and stabbed a 17-year-old male coming to the aid of Vasquez-Guzman's intended target.
A restraining order against Vasquez-Guzman, said local police, apparently did not hinder his attempts to harm a 21-year-old female living in the residence. It is alleged he broke out a bedroom window and entered the home, grabbing a piece of broken glass to use as a weapon against the female victim.
A 17-year-old male intervened and Vasquez-Guzman stabbed the juvenile multiple times during the ensuing struggle, according to a police report.
The 17-year-old said he was able to grab a piece of broken glass and stabbed Vasquez-Guzman in the upper torso.
The victim was treated and released from Sunnyside Community Hospital.
Vasquez-Guzman is still at large and victim names are not being released.
Vasquez-Guzman was reported leaving the scene in a gray or silver 1993 Chevrolet Lumina. No plate number was available. He is believed to be in the Yakima area.
