Pirates plunder Vikings

BICKLETON - The Bickleton Lady Pirates plundered Mabton's junior varsity team during a home game last night, defeating the Vikings 41-26.

According to Coach Tom Whitmore, the Pirates varsity stepped it up defensively compared to previous games. "We pressed the ball coming down the floor, forcing turnovers," he said.

The Pirates took the lead in the first quarter and didn't drop it throughout the entire game.

Offensively, the Lady Pirates had a great rebounding game. Katelynn Clinton, the high scorer for the night with 11 points, contributed 11 boards, Phylicia Pearson garnered 9 and Chelsey Mercer had 8.

Whitmore said the team had a balanced scoring attack, with six Pirates garnering points for the team.

The Pirates square off against Yakama Tribal at an away game this Saturday.

They're now 4-6 for the season and 2-5 in league play.
