Drive-by arrests made

The Sunnyside Police Department has arrested two suspects allegedly involved in a gang-related drive-by shooting incident that occurred last Friday, Jan. 19.

The incident occurred in the 1300 block of Jackson Avenue. A 17-year-old male was shot in the thigh. The victim was treated and released from the hospital.

Oscar Trevino, 23, of Sunnyside was arrested in the early morning hours of Saturday, Jan. 20. Trevino is thought to be the driver of the car from which the shots were fired. He had a preliminary hearing in Yakima Superior Court yesterday, and faces charges of accomplice to assault first degree and drive-by shooting. Trevino is scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday, Jan. 24.

Another suspect, Anadelia Flores, 24, from Grandview was arrested by police yesterday. She is being charged with rendering criminal assistance second degree. According to the Sunnyside Police Department, she assisted 20-year-old Adrian Ozuna, the primary suspect in the drive-by shooting, by hiding him and helping him keep from being arrested.

The weapon used in the drive-by shooting still has not been recovered, and Ozuna is still at-large.
