BICKLETON - The Bickleton Pirates fell to the Klickitat Vandals 48-18 last Friday in what could best be described as a lopsided game throughout.
Coach Ben McBride summed it up simply by saying, "It was a rough outing for everybody (on the team)."
McBride said not only did his team not connect offensively, when they did have possession of the ball, it would rim off and the team was right back on defense.
The Pirates' high-scorer for the night was Tyler Jensen with a mere six points. Klickitat's high scorer, Herschel Sanchey, had 22 points.
Going into halftime, the Pirates had only six points versus the Vandals' 30. The only time the Pirates managed to slow down Klickitat's scoring was in the fourth quarter, holding the Vandals to only three points.
Bickleton's Eric Hess was the top rebounder for the night with 12 boards. Teammate Edgar Molina had three steals, while Patrick Meader had two assists.
McBride said the first time the Pirates squared off against Klickitat, they lost the game due to turnovers. That wasn't the issue in Friday night's game. He attributes this loss to the Pirates' lack of patience.
Defensively, the Pirates were unable to stop Klickitat's motion offense.
The Pirates are now 2-8 in league play and 4-10 for the season.
