Virginia M Lane, 99, passed
away peacefully Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Sun Terrace Retirement Home, where
she had been a resident for 10 years.
She and her family were
long-time residents, of Sunnyside since 1938. Virginia was born in Spokane, to
Rufus and Bertha Merriam and was the youngest of four children.
She married Frank Edgar (Ed)
Lane of Ellensburg. She had been widowed for 34 years with the passing of her
husband, Ed, in 1973.
Virginia is survived by her
twins, Kenneth R. Lane, of Denver, Colo. and Charlotte L. Layport, of
Aliquippa, Pa. She was the proud and loving grandmother to five grandchildren,
Mark E. Layport, of Bakersfield, Calif., Matthew Todd Layport, of The Dalles,
Ore., Candace J. Mertens, of Aliquippa, Pa., Kirk R. Lane, of Paron, Ark. and
Monica M. Hardy, of Dallas, Texas; and nine great- grandchildren.
Virginia was a faithful and
active member of the Grace Brethren Church in Sunnyside, with many years of
volunteering and helping those in need. She will be sorely missed by her family
A private family service will be held Friday, July 6, 2007, with
internment beside her husband, Ed, at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in
Sunnyside. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Smith Funeral Home and
to Pastor Nathan Zakahi for their comfort and assistance.
