TOPPENISH - The Grandview Neptunes placed sixth out of nine teams at an AAU regional swim meet held in Toppenish this past weekend, garnering 487 team points.
According to Neptunes Coach Meghan Waddle, Jared Churchill led the Neptunes in the boys 12&U category, earning first place finishes in the 100-meter butterfly and freestyle events and the 50-meter butterfly and 200-meter individual medley. Waddle also said he earned two second place finishes, one in the 50-meter backstroke and the other in the 50-meter breaststroke.
In the boys 10&U division, Tito Lopez placed first for Grandview in both the 100-meter and 50-meter butterfly events.
Also in boys 10&U, Micah Binfet of Grandview placed first overall in the 50-meter breaststroke. His relay team comprised of fellow Neptunes Brendon McGhan, Hector Obonza and Tito Lopez took first in the 200-meter medley.
In the girls 10&U division, Grandview's Taylor Hall earned a first place finish in the 100-meter freestyle and was second in the 50-meter breaststroke. Teammate Hailey Walker earned a second place finish in the 100-meter butterfly.
Walker and Hall's girls 10&U medley relay team that included fellow Neptunes Kassandra Martinez and Tiana Perez earned a first place finish by a seven-second lead over the Sunnyside Sharks.
