Voc-tech skills center in Sunnyside may be operational this fall

At a regularly scheduled meeting this past Wednesday night, Port Commissioners approved a ground lease with the Sunnyside School District to get portable buildings moved from the former PRIDE High School location to the Port's property on Barnard Boulevard.

The portables will be used for a vocational and technological skills center.

According to Port Manager Amber Hansen, the school district will not be charged for housing the portables on Port property.

Hansen said the document approved by Port commissioners will now be presented to the Sunnyside School Board for approval and that the goal is to have the center operational by fall.
