It's Hospice auction time

Volunteers are busy gathering items for the annual Lower Valley Hospice and Palliative Care Benefit Auction, scheduled for Aug. 4 at St. Joseph Parish Center, 907 South Sixth St in Sunnyside. Lower Valley Hospice and Palliative Care relies on this annual fund raising auction to provide for costs not covered by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance.

Frequently, patients on pediatric and adult palliative care are not always getting their needs met with support and help for the life threatening and terminal disease process. There are limited funds available for pediatric patients and no funds available for adults in the palliative care program. Help from community funding would enable us to visit and provide more care options for these people.

Palliative care programs through Lower Valley Hospice and Palliative Care are available to children and adults who are not yet ready for full hospice care based on choice or criteria. Your help, by attending the auction will provide care for all of our patients. Please consider the auction a means that you can support the mission of Lower Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.

Doors open with the silent auction at 5 p.m., a sit down dinner of prime rib prepared by Countryside Catering will be served at your table. The Miss Sunnyside, Miss Prosser and Miss Cinco de Mayo Courts will be serving and a Boy Scout troupe will be helping bus tables.

Live music will be provided by the Musical Revue, a group that was established as a result of requests for songs that people just don't get to hear anymore, such as songs from artists like Frank Sinatra, Brenda Lee and the Righteous Brothers. This year, soft country music will be added to the program.

Many wonderful auction items have already been collected. Some of the items already presented for the auction are a Hyatt Hotel trip for two and four nights including air fare, gravel, yard and garden equipment, flowers and shrubs, hair care items, service certificates, tools and wine packages.

Come join us for a fun event! Check our website at www.lowervalleyhospice.com and click on the Auction link to purchase tickets, or stop at the office at 3920 Outlook Road in Sunnyside or call 509-837-1676. Tickets are $35 for individuals, $65 for couples and $250 for a Friendship Table (seats 8).
