Tarpons too quick for Grandview Neptunes

TOPPENISH - Toppenish defeated the Grandview Neptunes on the Tarpons' home turf Tuesday night, 566-215.

The Neptunes' loss moves their Mid-Valley Summer Swim League record to 2-7.

Girls 8&U

Toppenish dominated the Neptunes in this category, although Grandview's Taylor Ebbelaar placed second in the butterfly to Tarpon Allison Huylar's first place finish.

Toppenish's Emma Stewart placed first in the breaststroke, with her teammate Maci Favilla placing second. Grandview's Regan Colson placed third.

Toppenish dominated the backstroke and the first through third finishes in the freestyle, although Ebbelaar placed fourth in the freestyle.

Girls 10&U

Toppenish's Brook John took first in the butterfly with a time of 53.68 and her teammate, Katrina Johnson, clocked in a second place finish at 57.56. Trailing just two-tenths of a second behind, Neptune Tiana Perez's third place finish clocked in at 57.78.

Perez earned first place finishes in the backstroke and individual medley. For Grandview, it was a one-two finish in the IM, with Neptune Hailey Walker placing second.

Grandview's Taylor Hall earned first place finishes in the breaststroke and freestyle. Perez took second in the freestyle and Toppenish's Danielle Zyph finished third.

Girls 12&U

Grandview's Jessica Morales finished third in the individual medley to Toppenish's first and second place finishes by Alexis Medelez and Natalie Clark.

Morales finished fourth in the butterfly. No Grandview swimmers placed in the breaststroke or the freestyle. Neptune Meghan Marquez finished fourth in the backstroke behind first, second and third place finishes by Tarpons Medelez, Kassidy Ruggles and Micaela Clark, respectively.

Girls 14&U

Toppenish's Ariel Valdez earned a first place finish in the freestyle, clocking in at 35.08, but Grandview's Tina Mensonides trailed close behind for a second place finish, clocking in at 36.87. Finishing third in 39.43 was Grandview's Tiffany Owens.

Neptune Nicole Charvet finished second in the butterfly to Tarpon Beth Klingele. Klingele also finished first in the breaststroke, with Owens placing second.

In the individual medley, Valdez placed first, Grandview's Kara Phillips placed second and her teammate Owens finished third.

Girls 18&U

It was split wins for Grandview's Allison Grow and Brittnee Sanchez, with each Neptune earning two first place finishes.

Grow earned first place finishes in the backstroke and butterfly, while Sanchez finished first in the freestyle and breaststroke.

Boys 8&U

Toppenish's Johnathan Imperial dominated in this age group, earning first place finishes in the breaststroke, freestyle and butterfly.

Imperial clocked in at 54.03 in the butterfly, while Grandview's Maurice Prieto placed second (1:29.77) and his teammate Taran Perez placed third (1:31.50).

Prieto was second to Imperial in the freestyle and Perez was second to the Tarpon in the breaststroke.

Imperial and fellow Tarpons Kolton Ruggles and Cade Stewart earned first, second, and third place finishes in the backstroke, while Perez finished fourth.

Boys 10&U

Micah Binfet led the Neptunes in this category with a first place finish in the breaststroke. Binfet clocked in at 56.68, while his teammate Tito Lopez's second place finish clocked in at 58.57. Toppenish's Jordan Supnet finished third, clocking in at 1:07.40.

Supnet finished first in the butterfly, clocking in at 57.08. Lopez finished second in 58.96, while Tarpon Joe Clark finished third (1:08.13).

Lopez and Binfet finished second and third, respectively, in the individual medley, which was won by Tarpon Joe Clark.

Boys 12&U

Grandview's Jared Churchill led the Neptunes in this category with a first place finish in the butterfly by four-tenths of a second (43.15) to Tarpon Nicholas Huylar's second place time of 43.56. Grandview's Fabian Ruiz placed third at 46.65.

Huylar bested Churchill by three-tenths of a second in the backstroke, clocking in at 45.26 to Churchill's time of 45.56. Tarpon John Kanine finished third, clocking in at 46.99.

Tarpon Jeremy Klarich finished first in the individual medley, Churchill took second and Huylar took third.

In the freestyle, Klarich finished first, while Ruiz came in second and Churchill came in third.

In the breaststroke, Klarich finished first, while Churchill placed second and Ruiz placed third.

Boys 16&U

Tarpon Anthony Galaviz earned first place finishes in all five events.

Grandview's Keagen Christensen finished second in the butterfly, while teammate Ryan Contreras finished second in the butterfly, freestyle and individual medley.

Boys 18&U

Toppenish's Tyler Ward is the only swimmer listed in this category and he finished first in the butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke and freestyle. He is not listed as having competed in the individual medley.
