Outlook man injured in crash near Benton City
BENTON CITY - Inattention has been listed as the cause for a two-vehicle accident that injured an Outlook man yesterday morning.
Washington State Patrol troopers report that Harvey B. Patterson, 73, of Outlook was westbound on I-82 near Benton City when the 9:15 a.m. Monday morning accident occurred.
According to the WSP, Patterson was in the passing lane in his 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer and moved into the right lane, rear-ending a 1996 Kenworth dump truck, driven by Mitchell L. Hough, 41, of Kennewick. Hough avoided injuries, but his dump truck sustained approximately $5,000 worth of damages.
Patterson's Trailblazer was totaled, according to troopers. The Outlook man, despite being buckled in to a safety restraint, required medical attention as a result of the crash and was transported by ambulance to Kadlec Hospital in the Tri-Cities.
